Some really gorgeous photos from my “residency” at Revolution in York. Different crowd but a fun one, enjoyed myself and met some really nice people. Hope you like the photos guys!
- Autumn Revelations… and some other stuff
Those of you who know me will know that I am generally slightly disdainful of landscape photography - it’s just not something that interests me. I feel that a human element is necessary in most photographs for me to feel a real connection with them.
I was walking back from the Hospital across a park today (wisdom teeth, long story) and I saw a tree floodlit with sunlight casting some gorgeous shadows. That kinda inspired me so I ran home to grab my camera.
As is so often the case, clouds had covered the sun and ruined the light I was after but I still managed to grab a few frames of my surroundings. The photo above was shot near my house, off Eldon Street.
I think the three things I have learnt today are:
- Autumn brings out gorgeous colours
- Landscape photography can actually be a fascinating thing
- Landscape photography is about capturing the moment, not creating the moment, which is what most of my other work revolves around.
I’m going to explore this further because I think I’ve been guilty of neglecting my personal work because I’ve been so busy with paid work. Of course, personal work informs professional work and so I am going to attempt, when possible, to shoot at least three photographs every day that have personal meaning in some way.
In other news (this post’s a bit of a roundup), Red Bull Cola is horrible. I’m quite a big fan of energy drinks and I probably couldn’t do the nightlife work I do without them and while I quite like Red Bull, their new Cola product is disgusting. It tastes like gone off Lucozade.
On that note if anyone from Relentless fancies sponsoring me that would be awesome - I love the stuff and I could do with a few free cases
I just got myself a Wacom Bamboo
tablet and love it. Works with a Mac really well and is awesome in Photoshop and Aperture. Only had it for 24 hours and don’t think I’ll ever work without one in the future. Amazing product and super cheap (I paid £60 including next day delivery).
Finally I have also added the ability to subscribe to my Blog via email, and you can do so using the form below if you wish. I seem to be getting more and more readers (4,500+/month at present) and I think it’d be an easy way for people to keep up to date with what I’m doing.
Subscribers will also get preferential rates on any photography work they commission as well as reduced print prices.
- MC Neat @ Aquapop
Manchester’s biggest and best student night returns with Garage legends MC Neat and DJ Luck. Awesome night, craaazy atmosphere
The Egg game was hilarious, seeing someone have an egg smashed over their head is highly amusing.
- Mac Chick of The Month Just Published
Just received got an email telling me that Macenstein’s latest Mac Chick of the Month is out, photos, of course, courtesy of yours truly (i.e. me)! Awesome photo set, go check out the article on Macenstein’s website to get the low-down on Becky Ellis‘ geekier, Mac-loving side and to download some cool wallpapers, all for free.
- Studentcooking.tv Prints
I did a shoot for StudentCooking.tv a few weeks ago and just got a proof through from them for some of their flyers. Really glad with how they’ve turned out and so are they. It was an awesome shoot, one of those that just flows really nicely and doesn’t have any hiccups.
If you know someone who could do with learning a bit of cookery skills (I know I could do with some of the same) go check them out, they have some utterly hilarious videos and you can actually learn a lot from them.
